Coach hire in London for groups: what we offer
People searching for coach hire London often need one of two things: a minibus for a group of up to about 16, or a large coach for 30, 50 or more. We should be clear about which we provide.
Our own vehicle for groups is the Mercedes Sprinter minibus, up to 16 passengers, with a professional driver. For larger coaches, we quote on request and arrange the vehicle for you. We never invent a price or a “from” rate for a coach, and the figure you get is a single fixed price agreed before you book, VAT included.
If you only need a car for a smaller group, see our chauffeur service, where the V-Class takes up to 8 passengers.
Minibus hire in London with a driver
The Sprinter suits many group journeys. Because it comes with a driver, nobody in your party has to drive, park or look for the way.
Typical uses:
- Airport transfers for a family or a team, for example Heathrow or Gatwick
- Wedding guests moving between a hotel, a ceremony and a venue, see wedding car hire
- Corporate events and team days out
- Day trips to the Cotswolds, Bath, Stonehenge or Brighton
- Cruise transfers to Southampton, see Southampton cruise port transfer
A 16-seat Sprinter is a good size for a family reunion, a sports team, a hen or stag weekend, or a visiting delegation.
16 seater minibus hire London: what to know
The Sprinter takes up to 16 passengers. Luggage space shrinks as the seats fill, so for a full vehicle with large suitcases tell us when you ask for a quote, and we advise whether one vehicle is enough or two are more comfortable. We only quote seat counts we run.
Larger coaches: 30, 50 or more seats
For a group above 16, we quote a larger coach on request. Group coaches are priced according to the day, the route, the hours and the waiting time, so a fixed list price would mislead. Send us the details and we reply with one figure.
When you ask for a coach quote, include:
- The date and the start time
- The pick-up and drop-off addresses, with any stops on the way
- The number of passengers
- The hours the vehicle must wait, and any return journey
If you are comparing quotes from several operators, check that each one states the vehicle size, the hours covered, VAT and the waiting time. For rules on coach and minibus drivers’ hours, see the official guidance at gov.uk.
Coach or minibus: which do you need?
| Group size | Best choice |
|---|---|
| Up to 3 | E-Class, S-Class or BMW equivalent |
| Up to 4 | Range Rover |
| Up to 8 | V-Class or VW Transporter |
| Up to 16 | Mercedes Sprinter minibus |
| More than 16 | Larger coach, quoted on request |
Where a group is only slightly over a car’s limit, a V-Class for 8 plus a second car can sometimes cost less than a bigger vehicle, and we say so in the quote. The prices of the cars are on the prices page; the minibus and coaches are quoted on request.
Coach hire from London to other cities
Many enquiries ask about long routes: Manchester, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Brighton, Wales. We drive out of London, and every long route is priced on request. See the pages for Manchester and Brighton for examples of what a car journey on those routes looks like. Because we quote, not list, the price takes into account the actual route and the time the vehicle is with you.
For a day with several stops, an hourly booking (4-hour minimum) can be simpler than a point-to-point price; ask us which suits your plan.
Planning a group journey
Group transport goes wrong in small ways: one late guest, a wrong pick-up point, a coach that cannot get close to a hotel entrance. A few decisions made early prevent most of it.
- Choose one pick-up point. A minibus can stop at most hotels and homes, but a single agreed place keeps the group together.
- Count luggage as well as people. Ten guests with cabin bags and ten guests with large suitcases need different vehicles.
- Allow time for the group. Sixteen people take longer to board than two, so we plan extra minutes at each stop.
- Tell us about access needs such as step-free boarding, so we recommend the right vehicle.
- Check the venue. Some venues have a drop-off area for larger vehicles. We can advise, but the venue’s own information is the final word.
For airport groups, Heathrow publishes its terminal and drop-off information on heathrow.com, which helps you choose a meeting point before the day.
Minibus or two cars?
For a group of nine to twelve, a Sprinter is usually simpler than two cars: everyone arrives together and there is one driver and one price. For a group of five to eight with luggage, a V-Class is often the better fit. If you are unsure, tell us the headcount and we recommend the option that works.
What is included
- A professional driver
- A fixed price agreed before you book
- VAT in the price we quote
For anything further, such as extra stops, a longer wait or a return journey, say so in your request and we include it in the figure.
